On February 29, Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili addressed the members of the Friendship Group of the Parliament of Bulgaria with the Parliament of Georgia.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude towards members of the Parliament for their support of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the EU and NATO accession process, which was expressed in the declaration adopted by the parliament last year.
During the report, the Ambassador discussed the main achievements and challenges of Georgia's foreign policy, the granting of EU candidate status to Georgia last year was particularly noted. The ambassador informed the members of the group about the current situation in the occupied territories and the daily cases of human rights violations. The discussion touched upon bilateral relations. The active dynamics of high-level visits were noted with pleasure. Taking into consideration the strategic location of the two countries, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of fully exploiting the potential of the Black Sea.
The chairperson and members of the group once again reiterated their strong and unequivocal support of Georgia's EU and NATO membership process. They expressed their willingness to maintain active parliamentary dialogue at a high level, including the exchange of visits. The MPs highlighted the importance of deepening cooperation in the fields of energy, communications, and transport, as well as the need to intensify trade and economic interaction. They expressed willingness to support the embassy in the implementation of public diplomacy projects.
