Recently established government of the the Republic of North Macedonia, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi, and Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski held introductory meetings with non-resident ambassadors (based in Sofia). Under this format, significance of strengthening bilateral relations, boosting economic cooperation, and advancing priorities related to European integration were highlighted. Additionally, Ambassador of Georgia held bilateral meetings with the Deputy Minister of Foreign and Trade Affairs, and Deputy State Minister of European Integration, as well as with the Chief of the Cabinet of the Minister of Internal Affairs. During discussions, he provided a comprehensive review of the key aspects in bilateral relations and emphasized the support for the country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations. At the end of the visit, the ambassador held a meeting with the representatives of the Georgian community in North Macedonia

On June 10, in city Popovo, a memorandum of mutual cooperation was signed between Oni and Popovo municipalities, which aims to deepen relations in the fields of economy, culture and education at the regional level, and expand cooperation in other areas of common interest. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia, Otar Berdzenishvili, participated in the official ceremony.

On May 9, the working visit of the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mr. Guram Guramishvili, took place in Sofia. Within the framework of the visit, a memorandum was signed, according to which Republic of Bulgaria recognized the certificates of Georgian seafarers involved in coastal navigation. Before the signing of the Memorandum, the Georgian delegation held meeting at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Bulgaria, where the parties discussed opportunities for deepening future cooperation between two countries.

During the working visit in Blagoevgrad city, Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili conducted a meeting with the president of American University of Bulgaria, Dr. Margee Ensign and Georgian students of AUBG. Sides discussed scholarship programs assigned for Georgian students and its increasement possibilities, cooperation between Embassy and University and other activities organized by the Georgian students.

On April 10, Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili paid a working visit to Blagoevgrad city, where he held a meeting with the mayor of Blagoevgrad, Metodi Baykushev.  During the meeting, parties discussed the issues of strengthening ties between the municipalities and updating MOU on sister city connections, as well as organizing of visits. Possibilities of implementing projects in the field of culture and education were also discussed.

On March 27, in the framework of a working visit to Plovdiv, Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili held meetings with Plovdiv Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov and regional Governor Iliya Ziumbilev. During the meeting, parties reviewed bilateral relations, especially emphasizing the reinforcement of ties between municipalities, deepening people-to-people contacts, and promoting cooperation in the field of cultural and tourism connectivity.

Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili together with the renowned Bulgarian Chef Andre Tokev visited the Centre for Special Educational Support “Eduard Segen” in Nadezhda District of Sofia City. The visit had special meaning for the Centre and both the Ambassador and Chef Tokev, since it was highlighted by the charity porpoises. The Charity Campaign “Kind Heart” initiated by Chef Andre Tokev and supported by the Embassy, resulted into funding for the proper functioning of the Centre.

On March 25, the first consultations were held between the ministries of foreign affairs of Georgia and Bulgaria on the cooperation within international organizations, in an online format initiated by the Embassy. The consultations were headed by the Director of the International Organizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Shalva Tsiskarashvili and Director General for Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Genka Georgieva.

On March 13, Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili held a meeting with the Minister of Innovation and Development of Bulgaria, Milena Stoicheva. During the meeting, the perspectives of deepening the existing cooperation in the field of innovations were discussed. Both sides emphasized the deepening the relationship between the line Ministries, the need of exchange visits and the importance of involvement of startups of both countries.

On February 29, Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili addressed the members of the Friendship Group of the Parliament of Bulgaria with the Parliament of Georgia. The Ambassador expressed gratitude towards members of the Parliament for their support of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the EU and NATO accession process, which was expressed in the declaration adopted by the parliament last year. During the report, the Ambassador discussed the main achievements and challenges of Georgia's foreign policy, the granting of EU candidate status to Georgia last year was particularly noted. The ambassador informed the members of the group about the current situation in the occupied territories and the daily cases of human rights violations. The discussion touched upon bilateral relations. The active dynamics of high-level visits were noted with pleasure. Taking into consideration the strategic location of the two countries, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of fully exploiting the potential of the Black Sea.

On February 20, by the initiative of the embassy, an online courtesy meeting was held between Khatia Tsilosani, the head of the Georgian Bulgarian friendship group in Georgian Parliament and Aleksandar Ivanov, the head of the friendship group with the Georgian Parliament in the Bulgarian parliament.  During the meeting, aspects of parliamentary cooperation were discussed. The unprecedented interaction of the past year was noted with pleasure, and the need to maintain close contacts in the future was emphasized. In this context, the parties expressed their willingness to exchange visits.

The sides of the meeting parties reviewed the issues of bilateral relations, especially emphasized the reinforcement of ties between municipalities, deepening people-to-people contacts, promoting trade cooperation, as well as opportunities for air traffic within the framework of the connectivity policy.
