On February 20, by the initiative of the embassy, an online courtesy meeting was held between Khatia Tsilosani, the head of the Georgian Bulgarian friendship group in Georgian Parliament and Aleksandar Ivanov, the head of the friendship group with the Georgian Parliament in the Bulgarian parliament.  During the meeting, aspects of parliamentary cooperation were discussed. The unprecedented interaction of the past year was noted with pleasure, and the need to maintain close contacts in the future was emphasized. In this context, the parties expressed their willingness to exchange visits.

Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili met with the Rector of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Prof. Georgi Valchev. During the meeting, the perspectives of deepening the existing cooperation between Georgia and Bulgaria in the field of education were discussed, especially the activation of interaction between higher educational institutions. Both sides emphasized the need to implement exchange programs for professors and students and the importance of organizing joint conferences and seminars. The ambassador expressed his willingness to actively cooperate with the university. Several joint events of the Embassy and University are already in the pipeline, which will take place in the future.

Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili held a meeting with Kiril Petkov the Chairperson of the Committee on the European Union Affairs, the Schengen Area and the Euro Area of the Parliament of Bulgaria. Kiril Petkov extended congratulations to the Ambassador on the granting of EU member candidate status to Georgia last year, hence the place of Georgia is in European Union. Ambassador expressed gratitude for Bulgaria’s, as well as Chair’s personal active support in this process. During the meeting, all the aspects of parliamentary cooperation between Georgia and Bulgaria were discussed. Very positive dynamics in this direction was noted with pleasure and both sides emphasized the necessity to maintain fruitful interaction in the future. The conversation touched upon on Georgia's progress on the path of the European Union membership. The Bulgarian side expressed its readiness to share its experience at both the high and expert levels. At the end of the meeting, the parties reviewed the topics of Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area and the Eurozone, and Kirill Petkov shared his opinion on these topics with the Ambassador.

On January 24, Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili held a meeting with the Chairperson of the Friendship Group of the Parliament of Bulgaria with the Parliament of Georgia Aleksandar Ivanov. During the meeting, the aspects of Georgian-Bulgarian bilateral cooperation were discussed. Both sides highlighted the unprecedented Inter-Parliamentary dialogue last year, reflected not only in the high-level visits, but also by the adoption of Georgia’s support Declaration by the Bulgarian National Assembly. The parties expressed readiness to continue high level of interaction between two Parliaments the upcoming year and in this context, discussed concrete action plan.

Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili held a courtesy meeting with the recently elected Mayor of Sofia City Vassil Terziev. During the meeting, the existing cooperation between Georgian and Bulgarian municipalities was discussed, as well as the future plans and activities of the Embassy in the capital of Bulgaria. Both sides emphasized the role and importance of public diplomacy to further increase awareness about Georgia in Bulgaria. Mayor congratulated Ambassador with the granting of EU candidate country status to Georgia.

During the meeting, the dynamics of bilateral relations between Georgia and Bulgaria were discussed. The side noted with satisfaction, active interaction at the governmental and parliamentary levels throughout this year.

During the visit in North Macedonia, Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili held a courtesy meeting with the Vice-Prime Minister for European Affairs of North Macedonia Bojan Maricik. During the meeting, the agenda of Georgia and North Macedonia's accession to the European Union was discussed. The importance of granting candidate status to Georgia was emphasized. The Vice Prime Minister expressed his willingness to share the experience of North Macedonia to Georgia in this regard.

After the ceremony, Ambassador had a courtesy meeting with the President, where the dynamics of relations between Georgia and North Macedonia were discussed. The conversation with the President touched on the possibility of implementing joint projects in the future in all the fields of mutual interest, taking into consideration the untapped potential of the bilateral cooperation betweeen two countries. The President expressed unconditional support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for membership in the European Union and NATO. On September 27, Georgia's Emergency and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Northern Macedonia (residence Sofia) Otar Berdzenishvili presented the certificates of credence to the President of the Republic of Northern Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski. After the ceremony, the meeting of the Ambassador and the President took place, during which the dynamics of relations between Georgia and North Macedonia were discussed. The talk was about the possibility of implementing joint projects in the future in areas of common interest, in particular given the necessary potential for bilateral cooperation. The President has confirmed strong support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as EU and NATO accession.
