In November 18, 2025 H.E. Zurab Khamashuridze, Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Bulgaria, held a meeting with Yordanka Fandukova, Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Bulgarian National Assembly The Chairperson congratulated Ambassador on his recent appointment and wished him success in his future work. At the meeting, topics related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Georgia and Bulgaria were discussed. The discussions touched upon security issues in the region and ongoing developments, including security of the Black Sea region and opportunities for deepening cooperation in areas such as connectivity, transportation, and energy.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Bulgaria, Zurab Khamashuridze, presented the letters of credence to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, H.E. Rumen Radev. Following the credential presentation ceremony, the Ambassador held a meeting with the President. The two officials reviewed the current state of bilateral relations between Georgia and Bulgaria and discussed prospects for their further development. Particular emphasis was placed on Georgia’s European integration process and the security situation in the region. They also explored opportunities to expand cooperation in the areas of transport and energy, as well as to enhance partnerships among the countries of the Black Sea basin.

October 1-7, 2025, Republic of Bulgaria St. In Varna, the 19th International Festival of Puppet Theater "Golden Dolphin" was held at which the Tbilisi State Youth Theater presented the play "Otelo".

The performance earned a lot of appreciation from the audience. By the decision of the organizers, the directors of the play were awarded for the best direction: Gia Marghania and Dimitri Khvetisiashvili. The prize for the best performance of a male role was given to Vano Dugladze. The play also earned a special award for best interpretation of a classic drama.

On October, 2 the Ambassador-designate of Georgia to the Republic of Bulgaria, Zurab Khamashuridze, presented the copies of credentials to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Elena Shekerletova At the meeting with the Deputy Minister, Ambassador discussed the dynamics of bilateral relations between Georgia and Bulgaria, expressed his readiness to intensify cooperation and partnership and emphasized the importance of expanding regional cooperation for common security and stability.

"Poetry on the Subway 2024”

As part of the Public Diplomacy carried out by the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Bulgaria, and with the cooperation and support of Polish Institute in Sofia, which started at the beginning of this year, Embassy of Georgia became, for the first time, the beneficiary of the Polish Institute’s project "Poetry on the Subway 2024”. This Project promotes poetry from around the world in Sofia’s metro stations. Within the framework of the project, Aphorisms from Shota Rustaveli's epic poem “The Knight in the Panther's Skin", which were presented by the Embassy of Georgia, this year will be displayed on the Sofia's subway for two months, in both Bulgarian and Georgian languages. The official opening ceremony of the of the project “Poetry on the Subway” was held on November 19th. Official guests of the event included representatives of the diplomatic missions to Bulgaria.  Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili read fragment from Shota Rustaveli's "The Knight in the Panther's Skin" in Georgian language for the audience.

As part of the Public Diplomacy carried out by the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Bulgaria, with the cooperation and support of the National Book Center under the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, an evening of Georgian poetry was held on October 4th, where the audience had the opportunity to get acquainted with Shota Rustaveli's epic poem "The Knight in the Panther's Skin" translated to Bulgarian. At the abovementioned event, the guests were introduced with the ancient history, culture and traditions of Georgia, including a presentation by the Embassy, which highlighted the origins of Georgian wine and emphasized Georgia's touristic potential.

Recently established government of the the Republic of North Macedonia, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi, and Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski held introductory meetings with non-resident ambassadors (based in Sofia). Under this format, significance of strengthening bilateral relations, boosting economic cooperation, and advancing priorities related to European integration were highlighted. Additionally, Ambassador of Georgia held bilateral meetings with the Deputy Minister of Foreign and Trade Affairs, and Deputy State Minister of European Integration, as well as with the Chief of the Cabinet of the Minister of Internal Affairs. During discussions, he provided a comprehensive review of the key aspects in bilateral relations and emphasized the support for the country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations. At the end of the visit, the ambassador held a meeting with the representatives of the Georgian community in North Macedonia

On June 10, in city Popovo, a memorandum of mutual cooperation was signed between Oni and Popovo municipalities, which aims to deepen relations in the fields of economy, culture and education at the regional level, and expand cooperation in other areas of common interest. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia, Otar Berdzenishvili, participated in the official ceremony.

On May 9, the working visit of the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mr. Guram Guramishvili, took place in Sofia. Within the framework of the visit, a memorandum was signed, according to which Republic of Bulgaria recognized the certificates of Georgian seafarers involved in coastal navigation. Before the signing of the Memorandum, the Georgian delegation held meeting at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Bulgaria, where the parties discussed opportunities for deepening future cooperation between two countries.

On April 10, Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili paid a working visit to Blagoevgrad city, where he held a meeting with the mayor of Blagoevgrad, Metodi Baykushev.  During the meeting, parties discussed the issues of strengthening ties between the municipalities and updating MOU on sister city connections, as well as organizing of visits. Possibilities of implementing projects in the field of culture and education were also discussed.
