Ambassador Otar Berdzenishvili held a meeting with Kiril Petkov the Chairperson of the Committee on the European Union Affairs, the Schengen Area and the Euro Area of the Parliament of Bulgaria.
Kiril Petkov extended congratulations to the Ambassador on the granting of EU member candidate status to Georgia last year, hence the place of Georgia is in European Union. Ambassador expressed gratitude for Bulgaria’s, as well as Chair’s personal active support in this process.
During the meeting, all the aspects of parliamentary cooperation between Georgia and Bulgaria were discussed. Very positive dynamics in this direction was noted with pleasure and both sides emphasized the necessity to maintain fruitful interaction in the future. The conversation touched upon on Georgia's progress on the path of the European Union membership. The Bulgarian side expressed its readiness to share its experience at both the high and expert levels.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reviewed the topics of Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area and the Eurozone, and Kirill Petkov shared his opinion on these topics with the Ambassador.
